Backend & Security Engineer

As our Backend & Security Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that every system we build is not only performant but airtight. You will design and maintain the secure infrastructure that powers our automation products — protecting client data while enabling our systems to operate at scale.
Role Details
What You Will Own
This role is designed for someone who wants practical ownership, direct client impact, and the room to build systems that continue running long after launch.
Design, build, and maintain secure backend services, APIs, and server infrastructure
Implement and enforce GDPR-compliant data handling practices across all client systems
Conduct security reviews and penetration testing on deployed automation pipelines
Manage cloud infrastructure (VPS, AWS, or equivalent) including uptime, backups, and monitoring
Build authentication, authorisation, and access control layers for client-facing systems
Respond to and resolve security incidents or performance issues rapidly
Work closely with the workflow architecture team to ensure integrations are built securely from the ground up
Required Experience
What You Bring
- 3+ years of backend engineering experience (Node.js, Python, or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of security principles: encryption, OAuth, JWT, HTTPS, CORS
- Experience managing Linux servers, VPS environments, and cloud infrastructure
- Familiarity with GDPR and EU data protection compliance
- Knowledge of API security best practices and vulnerability mitigation
Nice to Have

- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or CI/CD pipelines
- Penetration testing or ethical hacking background
- Security certifications (OSCP, CEH, or equivalent)
- Experience in regulated industries (fintech, healthcare, or legal)
